Privacy Policy

This page explains how Voxoira (voxoira.com) and the Voxoira Voice Typing Chrome extension handle information. Contact: contact@voxoira.com.

The short version

1. Website tools

Dictation and live captions. When you press the microphone, your browser's speech-recognition technology processes the audio and returns text. Depending on your browser, that audio may be sent to the browser vendor's speech service. Review your browser's privacy terms. Voxoira does not receive or store the audio.

Translation. To translate text, the text you submit is sent to third-party translation services (currently Google's public translation endpoint and MyMemory). Those services handle it under their own terms.

Page translation. If your browser language is not English, or you choose another language, Voxoira sends its own page text (not text you dictate, type or upload) to Google's public translation endpoint to show the site in your language, and keeps the result in your browser's local storage. Search engines see the English original.

Ask AI. If you connect an AI provider, your prompts and transcript text are sent from your browser straight to that provider using the API key you enter. Voxoira does not receive them. API keys are credentials: only enter a key you are comfortable storing in your browser, and never share it.

Audio to text. Files you choose are decoded and transcribed on your device. Only the speech model files are downloaded, once, from public content delivery services (jsDelivr and Hugging Face) and cached by your browser. Your audio file is not uploaded.

Text to speech, speaking time, filler word remover. These run entirely in your browser.

Share by link. Text is compressed into the part of the link after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to the server, but anyone who has the link can read the text, and the link may pass through the apps you share it in.

Embed widget. The embeddable dictation box runs in the visitor's browser and does not send text to Voxoira.

Page language. If your browser language (or the language you choose) is not English, Voxoira shows the page in that language by sending the page's interface text, such as headings, buttons and help text, to Google's public translation service. Your own dictated, typed, uploaded or AI text is not sent for this purpose. Translations are machine-generated and may contain errors.

2. Storage on your device

Voxoira stores settings, drafts and saved documents in your browser's local storage so they survive a refresh. Clearing site data removes them. Translated interface text is cached in your browser so it loads faster next time. A service worker caches pages so the site can load when you are offline.

3. Cookies and advertising

The site uses a consent banner. Where ads are enabled, Google AdSense and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, as permitted by your consent choices. You can change your choice using the site's consent controls. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.

4. Chrome extension: Voxoira Voice Typing

The extension runs on your device and only acts on the tab where you start it or use its menu. Voxoira does not receive your speech, your dictated text, or the pages you visit.

5. Your choices

You can block the microphone in your browser's site settings, clear local storage, remove the extension at any time, and change advertising choices through the site's consent controls.

6. Security

No online service can guarantee absolute security. Do not dictate or paste passwords, payment details, API keys or other highly confidential information into any online tool.

7. Children

Voxoira is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes

This policy may change as Voxoira and the services it relies on change. The version on this page is the current one.
